| Thank you to Maureen C. and Mat G. for this picture and for keeping nature as an essential part of our nephew's life . |
This is my initial blog post of many to come.
My name is Silvia and I am a Child Development professional who enjoys being outdoors and learning about outdoor activities both for my professional career, as well as, for my personal life.
My goal with this blog is to start conversations with parents of Infants and Toddlers that are interested in outdoor activities, trying to add more outdoor activities, or consider that outdoor activities are in no way necessary in their children's lives. These conversations could help all of us develop a better understanding of how outdoor activities help children's healthy development.
When I was a preschool teacher,
I started to develop some children's books that include the outdoor aspect, because I found a lack of them available. Thankfully, nowadays, there are many organizations that have done an excellent job at spreading the word about the need for children to have outdoor experiences. Seeing all the good information that these organizations have shared aided my interest to create access for fun, educational books that parents and teachers can enjoy reading to their kids while teaching what the outdoors and natural world has to offer for everyone in the family!

I am also in the final stages of finishing a Guide for parents on how to include more Outdoor activities in their children's lives. This guide includes activities and many of the cognitive, socio-emotional, and language development benefits that outdoor activities offer. I will start sharing some of the information included in the guide pretty soon, so stay tuned :)
I would love to hear about themes and patterns that you have found to keep your children engaged when you read books. This information will help me tailor my books to the various learning styles our children have :)
Please tell me, When you read to your young children what interested your children the most about a book? What makes children prefer one book over the other?
Thank you for stopping by and sharing your opinions and ideas...
May your day be full of laughter and fun adventures!
Silvia
